Voices of Division was a commission by Dwelling Place, a non-profit housing company based in Grand Rapids, MI. The request was to activate unrented real estate with artwork. For the project I wanted to showcase the diverse faces of the Heartside neighborhood, an area which includes artist-run businesses, live/work spaces for creatives, social service agencies serving the homeless, and subsidized housing. I met with seven people, asking them the question, "Why do you choose to live and/or work on Division Ave?"
The resulting window displays, combining their responses, portraits, and a mix of materials, were on display from September through December of 2017.
