About

Created to expose the public to fine art in their daily lives, Flex Gallery was a wearable, rotating exhibition space located on curator Zachary Trebellas' left arm from 2016–21. The mobile art space hosted twenty-one custom armbands created by local, regional, and international artists that were exhibited in runs of two weeks each. The project included a diverse range of media including photography, digital illustration, soft sculpture, and printmaking. Flex Gallery was curated with no limitations other than the dimensions of the canvas armbands which Trebellas supplied to each artist. It was featured in an exhibition at the UICA in Grand Rapids, MI in summer of 2017 and has been featured in Hyperallergic, Temporary Art Review, The Rapidian, and Art.Hack. Its armbands have traveled all around the Midwest and as far as Paris and Lille, France. It’s final season took place in winter of 2021.
